Hats off to Mamata Banerjee for her protest against the Government's decision to allow Foreign Direct investments in the retail trade, and cutting short the supply of Gas cylinders to 6 to householders.
It is well known that if the Foreign companies are allowed to participate in the retail trade, the millions of traders of our country will lose their professions; lucky of them may get jobs in those foreign retail companies! But what about the others? Do any body dream that the consumers will get the products at cheaper rates? Unfortunately, their dreams will be shattered. Do you think that the companies are entering India to do service to the Indians? They are looking for fresh opportunity for earning and without sufficient margins, they can neither survive nor are they interested. Their motive is to increase their business and profit.
If this is the case what harm is there to give support to retailers of our own country to grow. Why this invitation to foreigners? One East-India Company of England took our country by storm, and ruled us. Do we need such companies again to take over and make us slaves?
May the politicians who are ruling our country realize this, and work in the interest of our countrymen.
